Would Jesus Discriminate against Homosexuals?

Topics: Commentary

The article begins with a supportive lead-in:

Rev. Kevin Konkle used to see homosexuals as immoral hedonists with no concept of God. Yet he struggled with his own attraction to other men.
You know exactly where it's headed ... this pastor's illicit desires become a twisted moral standard:
[He] came out about his sexuality, starting his own congregation for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender residents in Indianapolis nearly a year ago.
Members of his congregation fought against a state amendment that would ban gay marriage, 'Would Jesus Discriminate?' read their signs.

Of course Jesus discriminates, but in a graceful manner. You see, God's holiness demands the condemnation of sin, which homosexuality (obviously) is. But God, being rich in mercy, provides redemption to the homosexual and the power to conquer sin through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Trite comments that deny sin on one hand and suggest acceptance of immorality in the Kingdom of God trivialize the amazing sacrifice of Jesus Christ and twist the message of repentance unto life.
